VERGE AERO
Visualize a drone show for a large sporting or entertainment event that creates excitement and captivates a large audience.
Roles: Concept, Animation, Design, Compositing.
Brief:
Verge Aero develops and manufactures all necessary parts for their drone shows. Founded in 2016, they have gone from working in garages and living rooms to being featured on Americas Got talent: Extreme, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, and a music video for PNAU.
Features: Deformable Shell, RFLX 2.0, Reinforced Interior, and DLTA Padding.
Verge Aero:
Using no more than 250 drones, 3D animation, and compositing, create visuals that believably bring to life this collaboration between Verge Aero and The Weeknd.
Challenge:
Solution:
Using C4D and AE, 3D drones were created, animated, and composited over live action footage of The Weeknd.
SPLINES: Using splines and a matrix scatter or cloner, the drones would be divided along a path or outline of a shape.
GEOMETRY: When using geometry its important to keep track of the amount of points there are on an object. These points are where the drones will be scattered.
Passes:
Each pass involved experimenting with the speed these drones might move at, how they morph, their color, and compositing them over live footage.
